Top Ten Tuesday- *sigh* Wednesday – 2016 Releases I Meant to Read But Didn’t Get Around To

It’s time for another Top Ten Tuesday, brought to you thanks to the girls at The Broke and the Bookish.  I’m very pleased to say that I’ve had much better success this week, by which I mean my Top Ten has only expanded by two, and I’m only a day late posting!  If at first you don’t succeed…

One of the greatest ironies about being a book blogger is that you blog because you love books so much, and you want to share that love; but blogging actually means you have LESS TIME TO READ BOOKS!  *Sigh*  There are also more books than ever being added to your TBR mountain, because you’re constantly hearing about all the great books everyone else is reading.  Needless to say, there are plenty of books that could have made it to this list, but… I had to stop somewhere!

So, without further ado, here is my list of Top Ten (or so) 2016 Releases I Totally Meant To Read, But Didn’t Get Around To.  (They are still on my TBR pile, so look out for them in 2017!):

The Lady and the Lionheart – Joanne Bischof

I have read sooooooo many good reviews of this novel, and I’ve read enough of Joanne Bischof to know I will probably consider them all totally warranted once I have read it myself.

 

 

Told You Twice – Kristen Heitzmann

I love Kristen Heitzmann’s books, and I’ve even read the first book in this series, Told You So.  Anyone who’s met Bo couldn’t help wanting to read his story, so I can’t believe I haven’t gotten around to reading it yet!

 

 

Of Stillness and Of Storm – Michèle Phoenix

This one only released recently, but I’ve read a lot of conflicting reviews about it already; the kind of conflicting reviews that make me want to read it for myself.  But I might save it for a time when I can allow myself the emotional space to process it.

 

 

The Cautious Maiden – Dawn Crandall

I haven’t read any of Dawn Crandall’s novels yet, but let me tell you, I’ve heard a lot about this one and its hero, Vance Everstone.  This novel is the fourth in the series, so I will probably go back and start at the beginning.  I guess that technically adds four books to my TBR mountain…

 

 

Another Day, Another Dali – Sandra Orchard

I read the first in this series last year, and was surprised by how much I enjoyed it.  Not because I was expecting not to enjoy it, but because I enjoyed it for completely different reasons than I thought I would.  Firstly, it’s art fraud, so it’s different to your standard FBI setting.  But secondly, there was a light-hearted element I wasn’t expecting and some great, and sometimes quirky, characters.

 

Giver of Wonders – Roseanna M. White

I love Roseanna’s novels, and this story really piqued my interest, but it came out at the end of the year when I found myself a little, er… stretched for time.  I’m really hoping it won’t be next Christmas before I get around to reading this one.

 

 

For the Record – Regina Jennings

I only recently read the first in this series, A Most Inconvenient Marriage, which was also the first full-length story I’ve read by Regina Jennings. Betsy was an imp of a girl in that novel, so I’m looking forward to reading about her all grown up!

 

 

Intermission – Serena Chase

I haven’t read anything by Serena Chase before, but this one got some great reviews when it came out.  So many that I decided I HAVE to read it for myself.  And I WILL read it for myself.  Very soon!  Plus… it’s music.  ❤️🎶

 

 

The End of the World – Amy Matayo

Yet another book that released (much earlier in 2016) to rave reviews.  I mean, this quote from author Nicole Deese says it all: “The powerful journey of finding your soulmate in the dark…and loving them enough to lead them into the light.”  That’s my kind of book!

 

 

Homestands – Sally Bradley

I loved Sally’s debut novel, Kept, so when I heard she was releasing a new series I was very excited!  And yet, I still haven’t gotten around to reading this one… 😞

 

 

Newton & Polly – Jody Hedlund

Historical fiction – the kind that deals with real people from history – is one of my first loves, and I’m really looking forward to reading John Newton’s story.

 

 

Unblemished – Sara Ella

An intriguing cover, an intriguing description, and more rave reviews.  I’m sold!  And yet… Well, you know the story.  Or, should I say, my story?  Anyway, it WILL get read!
