Word Nerd Wednesday – Budgie Smugglers

Today’s Word Nerd post is going to be a quick one, because I am up to my eyeballs in reviews! It’s another round of “What do you think it means?” with some Aussie slang: budgie smugglers.

All I’m going to tell you is that it’s a noun. So, what do you think Australians are referring to when we get out the budgie smugglers? If you already know what it refers to, perhaps you could get creative and make up an alternative name—without giving away the answer!

As always, I’ll have the answer for you next week. Until then, happy reading!

I’m up to my eyeballs in books to read and review, too. Yet, here I sit, reading and commenting on other blogs, sigh. (I need a break!! So I tell myself, LOL.)

No idea what a budgie smuggler is, someone who smuggles budgies

Items that you couldn’t resist buying although they are outside your budget parameters, therefore, you have to smuggle them into the house so your husband doesn’t see them. I have “a friend” who does this. LOL

Having lived in Melbourne, Australia, I remember that a “budgie” is a bird. John Williamson had a song about them.
