First Line Friday – 18 August 2017 – Chasing Secrets (Lynette Eason)

first-line-fridays31

Welcome to another edition of First Line Friday. I’m in the middle of Lynette Eason’s latest release, Chasing Secrets, as we speak (write/read?), so I thought I would share the first line with you this week. Since JaneReads shared the first line of the prologue on her blog a few weeks ago, I’m sharing the first line of Chapter 1 this week:

~ About the Book ~

Elite Guardians bodyguard Haley Callaghan may be in South Carolina, but when a photo leads investigators in West Ireland to open a twenty-five-year-old cold case, her life is suddenly in danger. Haley knows how to take care of herself; after all, she’s made a career out of taking care of others. But after an uncomfortably close call, Detective Steven Rothwell takes it upon himself to stay with her–and the young client she has taken under her wing. A protector at heart, he’s not about to let Haley fight this battle alone.

In a sweeping plot that takes them into long-buried memories–and the depths of the heart–Haley and Steven will have to solve the mystery of Haley’s past while dodging bullets, bombs, and bad guys who just won’t quit.

The knock on the door jerked ninety-year-old Ian Burke out of his afternoon nap.

Now, time to get back to Haley and Steven and find out what’s going to happen next!

A knock on the door would wake anyone from a nap. Sounds like a great book!

I’m featuring “Healing Love” by Jennifer Slattery on my blog today, but I’m currently reading “A Name Unknown” by Roseanna M. White.

    London
    May 1914

Rosemary Gresham may have been a thief, but she was a thief who preferred to work in broad daylight.

Another book on my wish list.
Happy Friday! My first line is from An Alaskan Christmas by Belle Calhoune: “Finn O’Rourke paced back and forth in terminal 27A of the Anchorage airport.”

    Sounds like a great series!
Since I’ll be finishing Pepper Basham’s The Thorn Healer before lunch, I’m sharing the first line from my current Chapter 22: “I hate leaving you like this.” Catherine stilled her movements from packing her trunk, her coral walking suit an elegant fit on her delicate frame. “Not when David and Alexander could help tend the sickness.”

Heather Munro gazed down Victoria Street so long, she became another gray-suited statue along the Royal Mile.
